"We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children":

this quote from Antoine de St Exupéry reflects Audrey and Benoit Tixier’s philosophy

The estate was established in 1963 by Michel TIXIER and it is located in Chigny-les-Roses. Michel's son, Benoît TIXIER, continue the family business sine 1998.

In 2016 January, the estate has been certified as “HVE” (high environmental value).

Audrey and Benoît TIXIER, Champagne Tixier

Located at the foot of forested slopes of the Parc Naturel de la Montagne de Reims (Natural Park of the Reims Mountain) Chigny-les-Roses is a typical example of village in Champagne region where flower-bedecked houses surround a nearly 500 years old church witness of a long history.

During centuries the name of the ancient – former commune, mainly inhabited by pure winegrowers has changed from Chignacum to Chaigny, then to Chigny-en-Montagne, before becoming Chigny-les-Roses in 1902 following the ratification of President of the Republic of that time Emile Loubet.

This Decree signed during the presidential visit to the region would reward the work of Madame Louise Pommery, Grande Dame de la Champagne who designed a wonderful rose garden admired by many visitors from all over the world.

Nowadays Benoît TIXIER cultivates with passion and thoroughness three Champagne grapes: Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay. Since 1790 Chigny wine has been known as wine of “first quality” and has been classified as Premier Cru.

The vineyard extends to 8 different villages located in 3 big geographical areas.

The villages in the Reims Mountain: Trois-Puits, Rilly-la-Montagne, Chigny-les-Roses and Ludes classified as Premier Cru, as well as the Grand Cru village of Mailly-Champagne with the best conditions for the Pinot Noir.

Chouilly and Cramant communes with their Grand Cru de Champagne villages represent the Côte des Blancs where the Chardonnay grape reigns supreme.

Vallée de la Marne, more precisely Barzy-sur-Marne where le Pinot Meunier planted on the steep slopes dominates the Marne.

The vineyard is about 5 hectares, split between 36 plots which allows to blend regularly and with precision different Champagnes of our range.
